We’ve often been asked for a program for our youngest, not-quite-old-enough campers. Finally it’s here!
MKDC’s Seedlings program is a half-day, twice a week program designed for kiddos who would love a summer camp experience but are not yet old enough for our regular program.
The Seedlings daily schedule includes:
- “Dreamworld” play-based activities
- crafts and music
- nature-based play
- snacktime (a great opportunity to practice eating a packed lunch!)
- water games (Seedlings will NOT attend the waterfront)
- visit to the camp store (mini freezie included)
Many parents choose MKDC as a “warm-up” before starting school, because of our structured schedule and positive group atmosphere.
Frequently Asked Questions from Seedling Parents
Q: What activities will Seedlings participate in? What will their schedule look like?
A: Seedlings will participate in a play-based, nature-based program similar to our Sprouts program, but bite-sized. Crafts, songs, nature exploration, and outdoor play activities will form the bulk of their schedule. For safety reasons, Seedlings will NOT go to the waterfront.
Q: Is this program accommodating for children who are shy/nervous?
A: Yes! This is definitely a great program to help socialize a shy child, especially before they start kindergarten. Many of our 4 year old campers come to us before they start school to help get them used to a group atmosphere, especially since our group size max is 8 campers – much smaller than what you will find in a typical kinder classroom.
Q: Does my child need to be toilet trained?
A: We prefer that children be toilet trained, as our staff will not be providing diaper changes. If your child’s toilet training is a “work in progress” and you would like to send them in a pullup, this is fine, but please know you will have to do any necessary changing after pick up.
