Introducing Your 2022 Staff

Ron Program Director / Facilities Manager
If someone could wear more hats it would be Ron. Paddling his way into an 8th summer, nothing would run as smoothly as it does without his expertise. Campers may also see this familiar face as an educator at local schools in the off-season.  If your children are having fun at camp, Ron had a hand in it!

Emma Assistant Director / Programmer
Emma is returning for an amazing 8th summer at MKDC and is an essential member of our camp family. Emma has her BA in Child and Youth Care, MA in Child Study and Education and off-season works with the UCDSB. She is known for her amazing programming skills and the important role of “bead master”!

Courtney Camp Steward
Courtney originally left camp to go back to school and is now a Registered Early Childhood Educator and a mom herself. You’ll see Courtney welcoming families & campers in the mornings and making sure we don’t run out of frozen treats. We’re excited to have her (and her amazing organizational skills) back at Maple Key!

Gethyn Cabin Leader / Programmer
Gethyn is returning for his 4th summer at MKDC to his favourite place in “Heartwood Corner”. During the off-season Gethyn is a professional drummer, barista, and an after-school children’s programmer. We love the incredible energy and empathy he brings to camp every single day.

Brad Cabin Leader / Lifeguard
Brad is returning for his 2nd summer at MKDC and we are thrilled to welcome back our favourite champion of safety! During the off-season, Brad is a conscientious student who plans to become a doctor. We love his amazing attention to detail, and how carefully he looks after the campers in his charge.

Ashley Cabin Leader
Ashley is not really a new face around Maple Key, she has been a camper and a Firefly in previous years but now has made the natural progression to wearing the green shirt as a Staff member! Ashley will be able to connect with campers on a whole new level and we’re so glad she’s chosen to continue her time at MKDC.

Emily Cabin Leader
This is Emily’s first year at MKDC and her love for the outdoors makes her the perfect match. She’s most excited to get to know the campers and just be a part of the magic that is the Maple Key family. From the lake to the sports field and back to the cabin, Emily will bring the enthusiasm with her!

Graham Programmer
Graham brings a lot of teaching and musical experience with him as he joins us this summer when he breaks from his studies. When he’s not playing with the Ottawa Chamber Orchestra he’s out for a hike or with friends. Graham is ready to throw himself in the Gaga Pit and make this a summer to remember.

Emma Cabin Leader
First-year at MKDC for Emma and she’s looking forward to being a part of the family. She’s not afraid to get her hands dirty and loves to be outdoors. Emma is excited to start building her legacy at Maple Key.

Megan Programmer
Welcome back Megan for her second year at Maple Key. Eager as ever to see familiar faces and embrace new ones, she’ll be bringing that camp energy all summer long! When not at camp you’ll find Megan playing soccer or relaxing with her dogs.

Ready Player One – Gamer Major

If you’ve ever wanted to step into a video game, then this is the major for you! Ready Player One is inspired by video game mechanics, but you’ll never touch an actual controller or look at a screen. Instead, campers will explore how fit they’d have to be to do all the skills their favourite avatars can do, and participate in exciting games that will stretch their physical and mental muscles.
