The supplies are unpacked, the schedule is ready, the staff are pumped… now all we need are the kids! Camp starts Monday, and we can’t wait to welcome all of our new and returning campers.
We still have a few spots available in weeks 1, 3, 4, and 5 – but don’t wait too long!
Wow, only five days until our first week of campers arrive! The counselors have been busy during our pre-camp meetings, planning all kinds of wonderful and exciting activities and events for our new summer friends.
In the past week, the phone has been ringing off the hook with new registrations. If you are still considering whether or not to register, you need to act fast because week 2 is completely full, and the other weeks aren’t far behind!

Meet Rebecka, our Sr Counselor for the Fine Arts program! Rebecka is bringing a wealth of experience to her position, including work as a youth advisor and counselor, and many years working as a nanny. She is an experienced actresss, having performed in several entries in the Sears Drama Festival during her high school years. Rebecka enjoys all sorts of crafts and is eager to try out some new techniques this summer. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Child and Youth Care.

Courtenay comes to Maple Key with previous camp experience at Grippen Lake Camp and Camp Iawha. She has her Bachelor of Education, and since September she has been working as an occasional teacher. Courtenay will be our Sr. Counselor with the Sprouts group, and enjoys sports and crafts. She is very excited to teach everyone how to make “armpit fudge”! Welcome Courtenay!

I have just finished a full week of interviewing potential staff members for summer 2009. Wow! Our campers certainly are going to be in excellent hands. I am so very impressed by the number of energetic, caring people who are competing for the honour of spending the day with your kids.
With all these wonderful applicants, you might wonder how we decide who our counselors will be. It’s not an easy decision, but here are just a few of the characteristics we look for in the perfect counselor:
